ASKAR MAMIN OPENS II KAZAKH-US BUSINESS FORUM "COMPETITIVE KAZAKHSTAN"

Askar Mamin emphasized the importance of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to the United States in January 2018 for the further development of strategic cooperation between the two states.

"Following the visit of the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev, commercial contracts worth over $7 billion have been signed. The agreements envisage the development of joint investment projects in various sectors of the economy," noted the First Vice-Premier of Kazakhstan.

He stressed that all necessary conditions are created in Kazakhstan to improve the business climate, increase investment attractiveness.

"Out of direct investments channeled to the region, 80% were attracted to Kazakhstan. The US is the largest partner of Kazakhstan," A. Mamin said and noted that the largest US companies are successfully operating in the oil and gas, mining, and other sectors of the economy. Joint ventures with the participation of 500 Kazakh-US companies engaged in various sectors of the economy are effectively developing.

A. Mamin reported on the measures being taken by the Government to improve the business environment further and spoke about the progress in the fulfillment of the tasks on the modernization, diversification and digitization of the economy.

The holding of Expo-2017 in Astana contributed to the active development of ties with the international business community, said the First Vice Premier of Kazakhstan and noted that the Astana International Financial Center, located on the unique infrastructure of Expo, uses the best world practices of financial centers of New York, Singapore, London and Dubai in its activities to protect the interests of investors.

The Forum was attended by the heads of state bodies of Kazakhstan, the Astana International Financial Center and representatives of more than 50 US companies, including the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
